American mercenary Cooper Andrews, a former US Marine Corps sergeant and anti-fascist activist from Ohio, was killed in the Bakhmut area near Chasiv Yar on April 19, 2023. He had been fighting in Ukraine since March 2022 as part of the International Legion, participating in battles near Kyiv, Kherson, and Bakhmut.
